Merillat Cabinetry

Merillat Cabinetry is classic story of a company starting from nothing and growing to be one of the largest cabinet companies in the world.  The company began in Michigan in 1946 where founder Orville Merillat owned a small wood shop.  Orville had to leave the company during World War II to work as a carpenter in the Coast Guard.  During his time away, he would send the majority of his paycheck home (out of each $150 check, $149 of it went home to save for the company).  When he returned, he was able to make his first major investments in machinery and a truck.  In 1954, the company moved to its first plant where they remain today.  Currently the plant is an impressive 285,00 square feet in size.

As of the beginning of 2008, Merillat (Merillat Industries) joined forces with its sister company Quality Cabinets to form a single entity known as the Masco Builder Cabinet Group.    The company strives to be the most innovative cabinet manufacturer both in terms of style and energy efficiency.  With large investments allocated towards research and development, Merillat has become a leader in kitchen trends for the homeowner as well as manufacturing efficiency methods for reduced carbon emissions.  While doing its part to protect the environment, the company is now the first in its class to receive ISO Certification (International Organization of Standardization).
