Innovative Cabinet Storage Ideas
These days,
there is more to new cabinets than just good looks. A good
cabinet must be visually pleasing but also must be able to store
your items efficiently. Many manufacturers are now focusing on
unique and innovative ways to increase the functionality of
their cabinet lines. Regardless of the size of your kitchen,
bathroom, garage, closet or other room in your home, you need to
make the most of the space you have. If you're like most people
you probably have a lot of stuff and it's always difficult to
find the best spot for each item. Below, we have provided
some examples of current innovative storage trends for your
home. These ideas can make your life easier and more organized.
Don't forget to view the video to the left so you can visualize some of the
cabinet storage options described below.
Kitchen Storage for Trash Containers
If you have a kitchen, you’re going to have trash and you’re
going to need a place for it. One of the most popular options
for trash storage is the slide out cabinet that holds either one
or two full size kitchen trash cans. Many of these cabinets also
come with a separate compartment for holding the trash bags
which makes replacing old trash bags quick and easy.
Lazy Susan
A Lazy Susan consists of a rotating tray perfect for storing all
types of kitchen essentials such as pots and pans, canned foods,
spices and even glassware. These are most often found in a
corner cabinet located below the counter. A Lazy Susan usually
has a single cabinet door with a hinge in the middle allowing it
to cover a 90 degree angle space.
Kitchen Sink Pullout Tray for Sponges and Scrub Brushes
Kitchen sink pullout trays are usually found in front of the
sink and consist of a small tray that holds your wet sponges and
cleaning brushes. This is an ideal way to make use of a small
space where you’ll usually have wet items that need to be stored
away.
Pegged Drawers
Tired of your plates shifting around when you open your drawers?
The solution is pegged storage. Inside each drawer, you can have
movable pegs to ensure that your plates stay in the same spot no
matter how many times you open and close that drawer.
Gliding Basket Drawers
Gliding Basket Drawers have become more and more popular as a
visually pleasing way to store items. These can be found in
kitchens, closets and bathrooms and are perfect for storing
linens. You can line the baskets with a fabric that meets your
design needs for the room. Changing the color of the paint in
the room? Easy, just use different fabric lining for each
basket!
Door Mounted Spice Racks
If you are lacking in counter space, a door mounted spice rack
is a good idea to conserve space. Many cabinet manufacturers
have uniquely designed shelving that is attached to the cabinet
door allowing you to store your spices and any other cylindrical
containers. You’ll also see complete spice rack drawers that
pull out.
Under-Cabinet Storage
Why not show off those new wine glasses you purchased? To add
style and functionality to your kitchen space, installing wine
glass hanging mounts on the underside of your cabinets will show
off your glasses as well as make practical use of space. Don’t
keep your glasses in the dark anymore! Other options for
under-cabinet storage include wine bottle storage and utensil
storage.
Dividers
Dividers are perfect for keeping your dishes and serving trays
organized. You’ll typically see wood or metal dividers inside a
cabinet door. However, if you’d like to display your new plates,
you might want to consider wooden dividers inside the cabinet
that are not covered by the cabinet door.
